Q&A with Poteau’s Preslie House – Presented by RibCrib

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Preslie: I hope to grow in personal aspects, I want to get stronger physically and continue to work on tumbling skills. The stronger I can be personally, the stronger the team can be.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Preslie: One thing is that I have to be dependable. In life, people have to be able to trust that I will be there and can be counted on, like in cheer, my flyer has to trust that I will be there to help make the stunt go and catch her when she comes down.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Preslie: My favorite teacher that I’ve ever had is Mrs. Crystal Ashalintubbi- Shipman. She taught me about much more than agriculture, and is still a role model to me today. I’m very thankful for all of the guidance and wisdom she showed to me and is a large reason that I am so heavily involved in FFA today.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Preslie: My mom. She has always been such a hard worker and is so selfless. She will put anyone else’s needs before her own. I hope to be like her in the future.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Preslie: During my time with Platinum Cheer Company, I had a teammate named Abi Rollins. Not only is she an amazing cheerleader, but she wanted everyone else to be just as good as she was. That season she had an injury and had to miss out on a few contests but she was still there , on the sidelines, clapping us out and wanting to win just as much as if she had been on the floor. I hope to be the same kind of teammate she is.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Preslie: It’s nice to know that no matter what things may happen, I will always have my team to back me up. It’s an unwavering support system, just like a family.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete?
Preslie: My sister, Kylie. She was a softball player and went on to play in college. She wasn’t always the most talented player on her team but she was always willing to put in the work at home to be able to compete with the best of the best. I’ve always appreciated that underdog mentality she possessed.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Preslie: I would probably play softball. I played when I was younger but it takes place during the same season as cheer so I’m not able to do both. I’ve always enjoyed the game.

VYPE: What profession would you like to work in?
Preslie: I hope to become a veterinarian!
